Address the gap directly and briefly. "I took time away from my career to raise my children. During that time I completed [certificate] and [any freelance/volunteer work]. I'm now ready to return full-time." That's it. Practise saying it confidently. Employers who penalise parents for career gaps are not employers you want to work for.
