1. What Is an Affiliate Link?

An affiliate link is a URL that contains a unique tracking code. When you click one and then make a purchase on the destination website within a certain window of time (typically 7–30 days), we receive a small commission from the company you bought from.

Here is an example of how it works:

  1. You read our review of the Google Data Analytics Certificate on SkillsToPivot.
  2. You click the "Enroll on Coursera" button.
  3. That link contains a code that identifies you came from SkillsToPivot.
  4. If you enroll in a course on Coursera within the tracking window, Coursera pays us a commission.
  5. You pay the same price you would have paid without the link. Our commission comes from Coursera's marketing budget — not from your pocket.

Important: You are never charged more by clicking an affiliate link. The price you see is the price you pay, whether you arrive via our link or go directly to the platform's website.

3. How Our Commissions Work

Commissions vary by platform and are typically a percentage of the sale price or a flat fee per enrollment. We do not know in advance whether any particular visitor will make a purchase, and commission amounts do not influence what we write about or how we rate products.

We receive commission data from affiliate networks — this includes aggregate information about clicks and conversions from our site. We do not receive any personal information about you from affiliate platforms beyond what is necessary to verify that a commission is owed.

Affiliate income helps us keep SkillsToPivot free and ad-free. Without it, we would need to either charge for access or rely on advertising, which would create different conflicts of interest.

4. Our Editorial Independence Policy

We have a strict editorial independence policy. Here is what that means in practice:

Every review on this site includes a genuine "cons" section. If a certificate isn't worth it, we say so — even if we have an affiliate link to it.

✅ We don't hide affiliate relationships

Every page with affiliate links includes a notice. We don't bury disclosures in footers or use confusing language.

✅ We recommend free alternatives when relevant

If a free option is genuinely better for a reader's situation, we say so — even if linking to a paid option would earn us more.

5. How Our Ratings Are Determined

Every certificate review on SkillsToPivot uses a consistent scoring methodology. Ratings are determined by our editorial team based on:

  • Job market value: How much do employers actually care about this certificate? We research job postings, employer surveys, and hiring data.
  • Curriculum depth: Does the content genuinely prepare you for the job? We evaluate course syllabuses, student reviews, and what alumni say about their preparedness.
  • Beginner friendliness: Is the material accessible without prior experience? We assess prerequisite requirements and student feedback.
  • Value for money: Is the cost proportionate to the benefit? We compare price to outcomes across similar programs.
  • Career support: Does the program include portfolio projects, employer connections, or job-search assistance?

6. How We Label Affiliate Content

We aim to be transparent about affiliate links throughout the site:
